The Flip Flop Regatta is nearly here!

As some of you may already know, Constitution Yacht Club is partnering with Courageous Sailing Center for The Flip Flop Regatta, this coming Saturday, August 11th. This year’s event is important - it is the first year that Courageous Sailing Center will be completely managing both the regatta and the post race party, with all proceeds benefiting Courageous’ programs for youth sailing. The event is rebuilding from a few difficult years, and It’s important that the 2018 edition is successful as possible. Courageous has asked for CYC’s help, and they are in need of volunteers.

Here's what they'll need help with on land and for the post- race party:

Between 12pm-4pm: day-of tent and pier set-up

Between 5pm-7:30pm: check-in/registration help

Between 7:30-9pm: general support/check-in help

Between 9pm-12am: variable shifts for clean-up

Volunteers will have free entry to the party! If you are not racing, and can volunteer even for an hour or two, please email lauren@courageoussailing.org and carl@courageoussailing.org at Courageous and let them know what would like to help with. It would be great if we can get at least 1 or 2 volunteers from Constitution Yacht Club and really show our support for Courageous and Flip Flop Regatta.

Thank you in advance!

Wednesday Nights Underway

For the first time in decades, Constitution YC ran a Wednesday Night Race under a handicapping system other than PHRF. The evening was warm, the winds were fickle, the RC was hardy, and the racing was tight. The highlight had to be MIT's "Mashnee," a 1902 Herreshoff Buzzards Bay 30, which made her debut in the B fleet much to the oohs, ahhs, and distractions of the other racing crews. More than one person was heard muttering, "maybe I should go back to grad school..." Truly an impressive vessel and she looked quite spectacular on the course.

We are still straightening out some registrations, but the preliminary results are posted here.

Welcome to the 2018 season!
